Our history and path to success
Master Chip and Veg, with a vision to be the pioneering specialists of the finest quality whole and processed fresh fruit and vegetables, first laid down its foundation in 1990, with a very eager, but very minimalist staff compliment, with our first four members still with us today. We believe we have to look at our history in order to know where we are going.
We started with providing only fresh cut chips and potatoes to restaurants and other catering companies in the Johannesburg area. With demand growing, we began expanding by also supplying fresh fruit and vegetables. As the markets changed and opportunities arose, we added distributing frozen chips and vegetables, along with C’est La Vie Mineral Water, to our scope. Finally we opened our Master Greens range of products that provides the convenience of being pre-cut and portioned for maximum comfort to the consumer, and are now delivering as far as Pretoria and Vereeniging.
Our company is based in Jeppestown, Johannesburg neighboring the young, effervescent, and cosmopolitan Maboneng district, also known as the “epicenter of the inner city renaissance” – from where we are able to provide free deliveries, 6 days a week to the greater Gauteng region.
Success through Partnership
Through the support of loyal customers , a dedicated team of suppliers and service providers, we have progressively grown our staff compliment well above the amount of 50, our customer base (Wichita Spur, Mugg & Bean O.R Thambo, Pick n Pay, Tribes Restaurant, Bytes, The Gluten Free Bakery, and many many more), and range of products (eggs, frozen berries, frozen vegetables), as well as being recognized as the preferred distributor of McCain range of products in their ’emerging market’ project.

To ensure that we progressively maintain and improve our company values of service, quality and reliability, our newly renovated drop-temperature facility including our in-house range of branded vehicles, is certified by the SABS, and undergoes regular audits by the Department Of Labour for both Health and Safety and labour relations.
We have just been audited against the FSSC (Food Safety System Certification) system, which is the leading food safety system internationally, and are Proud to say we have received our FSSC2200 Certification
